Community Highlight: Norfolk

The City of Norfolk is nearing completion of a Nebraska Affordable Housing Trust Fund Grant which utilized funds to complete the rehabilitation of upper story apartments in downtown Norfolk.  The grant funds along with matching funds from property owners were used to complete 6 apartments.  The addition of these apartments provides much needed housing in the City of Norfolk and also enhances the downtown area.

 

Funds Available

The Norfolk Area Habitat for Humanity has recently been awarded Nebraska Affordable Housing Trust Funds for the construction of new housing. Applicants who apply for the program must meet income eligibility requirements in order to qualify for the program. Interested persons can contact Lori Price-Oertwich at 402-841-7171 for an application and processing instructions.

The City of Wakefield has received Nebraska Affordable Housing Trust Funds for the construction of two housing units in Gustafson Estates 2nd Addition. Applicants must meet the income eligibility requirements in order to qualify for the program. For more information or to request an application, please contact Judy Joy at NENEDD, 402-379-1150.

Monthly Meeting Highlights

NENEDD and NED, Inc. held their monthly meeting on December 2, 2015. Highlights from the meetings include a down payment assistance loan approval and approval of the 2015 audits.

There will be one more home in northeast Nebraska purchased by a new homebuyer with the assistance of NED, Inc.'s down payment assistance funds. The loan of $17,980 at 0% interest will not require repayment until transfer of title. For more details on our housing programs visit our website.

The next NED, Inc. meeting and the Semi-Annual Council of Officials meeting will be held on January 6, 2016.
